Why yoga?

Yoga is amazing; it is good therapy for mind and soul. It is the best treatment for various body pains; it also relieves stress. It helps in relaxing the mind and the body. It also considers as one of the best treatments for back pain. These days, people spend the majority of their time on computers, as sitting at one place for a long time can cause back pain, neck pain, etc. By doing yoga for a few minutes, we can reduce this pain.

How yoga can improve the back pain

Some of the important poses for relieving back pain:


It is one of the best exercises for back pain. Stretching can help in relaxing the body muscles; it prevents the muscle strain and also helps in avoiding the injury.

For doing this pose follows the given steps:

  • It should start from the neck, and then work on each of muscle down the body
  • Now start stretching on the point of mild tension slowly and gently This should not be done at the point of pain
  • For 10-20 seconds hold the stretch
  • The process of breathing is followed, inhale before each stretch and exhale during the stretch. Don’t hold the breath 

Child pose:

One of the best pose for strengthens the back and relieving the stress. It stretches the whole body mainly working on lower back, spine.

 For doing this pose follows the given steps:

  • For this, you need to kneel down on your hands and knees
  • Lift the tail bone towards the ceiling by gently pressing the back to raise the knees away from the floor
  • Now gently push heels towards the floor
  • Stay in the position for 10-15 breaths; Repeat this pose for 5- 6 times 

Forward fold:

This is also called the Upward-Facing Dog Stretches. It works mainly on the back muscles thus providing release of the tense shoulder.

For doing this pose follows the given steps:

  • You need to stand straight on the feet shoulder should be wide apart, and knees should not be locked.
  • Now hinge at your waist and bend forward touching the floor, while exhaling breath.
  • Hold it for 6-10 breath
  • Repeat the pose for 6-7 times 

Triangle Strength Pose:

The best pose to strengthening the back and legs. It relieves body from back pain; it is also effective for joint pain.

 To do this pose follows the given step

  • Firstly you need to stand straight on the feet
  • Now point your left feet at a 45-degree angle
  • Now turn on the side and start stretching the right arm towards the ground and left arm toward the ceiling
  • Hold the position for a 6-10 breath
  • Repeat the same on the other side

Hamstring Stretch (Standing):

It gives relief from the back pain and strengthens the back.

 To do this pose follows the given steps:

  • For this stand straight on the one leg. Resting your leg on table or chair
  • Now bend the leg on which you are standing. Stay in this position until you feel a stretch under the thigh of the raised leg
  • Hold for sometimes and then return to the starting position
  • Now repeat same with another leg

Downward-Facing Dog:

It helps in improving the strength of the body, relieve the back pain and to work out imbalances in the body. It is very refreshing and relaxing

 To do this pose follows the given steps

  • Align your hand with wrists and knee and place it under the hip
  • Lift the knees by pressing the hands and tucking the toes
  • Now bring the sitting bones in the upward direction
  • Now slightly bend the knees and lengthen your spine and tail bone
  • Press the hand and keep heels off the ground slightly
  • Remain your head in the row with your chin or with your upper arms
  • Stay in the position for up to one minute

By practicing yoga daily for a few minutes can help in gaining more awareness of the body. So here are some of the ways that can help in relieving back pain and with the help of these pose the back pain will get relieved.
